7 Things to Do in the New Hampshire/Maine Seacoast This Summer!

May 23, 2018

The snow has finally melted, the temperatures are heating up, and the idea of summer is within our reach! Time to trade in those winter boots for flip-flops and get your summer on. There is so much to see and explore in the New Hampshire Seacoast area! Whether you’re in the mood for a full-fledged adventure or just want to wind back and relax, we have selected some of the best things to do this summer!

  1. Soak in the Sun: Beaches of the Seacoast are a can’t miss during the summer. With plenty of beaches to choose from you can’t go wrong! We love Hampton Beach which is the largest beach in NH and offers a family-friendly environment and Jenness Beach which has an easy going and relaxing beach vibe. Remember though, dogs aren’t allowed on most beaches in the area between May and October. If you’re looking for a place to take your canine buddy, check out Seapoint Beach in Kittery, ME.

  2. Take A Splash: Did you know there is a water park in Portsmouth? Enter Water Country. Here, you can spend the day splashing in their wave pool or sliding down their many winding water slides. There’s also a public pool on Peirce Island in Portsmouth, that’s a well-kept local secret. Admission is reasonable and both residents and non-residents may make use of the space. Grab your towel and go do some laps!

  3. Get Jiggy With It: The Prescott Park Arts Festival offers a variety of top-notch music throughout the summer. It’s the perfect setting to dance and listen to jams right alongside the Piscataqua River. There is quite the line-up this summer, so you are in for a treat! One of our favorite local clients, Alnoba, also announced that it will be hosting several musical acts this summer. Check out their events page to see what’s on the lineup.

  4. Sail Away: Cool off and take to the sea on the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company. They offer harbor tours as well as expeditions to Star Island for the day! Want to experience a taste of colonial Portsmouth? Pack a lunch and try the Gundalow, which has the added bonus of being BYOB!

  5. Crack a Cold One: The Decks of Portsmouth are the place to be when it gets warm. You can enjoy the waterfront views while indulging in delicious food! You really can’t go wrong with a famous lobster roll and a cold beer…or two! Our team’s favorite waterfront dining options in Portsmouth are Martingale Wharf, Old Ferry Landing, and River House.

  6. Surf’s Up!: Yes, New Hampshire has some gnarly waves you can surf! Even if you are new to surfing, there are many training sessions available at Summer Sessions or Cinnamon Rainbows Surf Co. You’ll definitely want to go surfing at one of the beaches on the Seacoast this summer!

  7. Firework Spectacular: What better way to end your night than to end it with fireworks! Every Wednesday in the summer at Hampton Beach you can experience the firework festivities and see them light up the summer night sky. This year, Portsmouth’s 4th of July fireworks will be held on July 3 at 8PM at South Mill Pond. Grab your lawn chairs and get yourself set up early!

What are you waiting for? Go and pack your beach bags and request that day off of work! There is so much to do and see in the Seacoast so you better get started!
